Dear TE2020 conference participants, thank you for joining us thru three days of TE2020 conference!

Dear TE2020 conference participants,

The review process has almost completely finished. If you have not yet received the review results, you will soon have them. We expect the final submission as soon as possible, but preferably before May 25. You need to submit three files:
1. the word file with the 10-page limit.
2. the pdf file.
3. a 1-page word file with the answer to the reviewers, including what has been changed (you can submit this file via the conference website, section Submission).

If you have already submitted your final paper, then, please, add the 1-page file with comments to the reviewers, because it makes checking the final submissions easier.

We also send information with corrected deadlines and the draft conference program:

  • Final amended paper submission based on review:  20 May 2020  25 May 2020
  • Final paper acceptance:                                                  25 May 2020  30 May 2020

Regards

Dear TE2020 conference participants,

In follow-up to the announcement that the format for the TE2020 conference will be changed due to the current pandemic situation, the following arrangements have been made:

  1. All submitted papers will be reviewed and authors will be provided feedback. Accepted papers of authors who have registered and have submitted a recorded presentation (see 2) will be included in the conference proceedings published by IOS Press. Registered authors who wish to have an extended version of their conference paper considered for publication in a special issue of one of the associated journals can still do so after publication of the proceedings.
  2. Registered authors are invited to create a short recording of their presentation of maximum 10 minutes (max. 5 slides) and upload in a conference repository. They can be viewed by delegates and questions and answers can be posted via a chat room. The offline recorded presentations essentially replace the conference presentations.
  3. The keynotes will be presented live online and all registered delegates are invited to join us. The ISTE Annual General Meeting will also be held online.

Naturally, the conference registration fee will be reduced and based per paper published.

The deadlines for submissions have been adjusted as follows:

Notification of paper review: 5 May 2020

Final amended paper submission based on review: 20 May 2020

Final paper acceptance: 25 May 2020

Registration open: 25 May 2020 – 20 June 2020

Narrated PowerPoint presentations upload deadline: 15 June 2020

Viewing PowerPoint presentations and Q&A chat from: 10 June 2020 – 10 July 2020

Online Keynote presentations and ISTE AGM: 1 July 2020 – 10 July 2020

Naturally, the conference registration fee has been reduced to € 130 per paper. This fee essentially covers the cost of publication and cost of ancillary IT support.

Please monitor the conference website https://te2020-warsaw.pw.edu.pl/ for the latest information and updates.

Message from the TE2020 chair and ISTE President:

TE2020 going Online

Dear TE2020 delegates,

The global outbreak of the Corona virus has caused major disruption in our lives, work and business. On behalf of the ISTE board I hope you and your family are safe and well.

In the last few months, the ISTE board and the local organising committee had intensive discussions about what to do with the 27th International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE2020), scheduled for 6 – 10 July 2020 in Warsaw, under the present circumstances.

We have concluded that, in the interest of the health and safety of our members and the general community, TE2020 cannot go ahead in its face-to-face format. This is disappointing, but in our view the only responsible decision.

In the coming weeks we will review the feasibility of running the conference in virtual mode. We have a few ideas that we like to explore. The paper review process, currently underway for TE2020, will continue and authors will receive feedback. We are in discussion with IOS Press to see if we can publish the papers in the Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering series. We will need to charge a nominal fee for this service.

The option of publishing papers in a special edition of one of the associated journals listed on the conference website https://te2020-warsaw.pw.edu.pl/ also remains open.

Please stay tuned for further details regarding the new format for TE2020 and thank you for your understanding. Of course, you can always contact us if you have any concerns.

The 27th International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE2020)

Transdisciplinary Engineering is an emerging field that extends and transcends the initial basic concepts known as Concurrent Engineering (CE). CE has matured and has become the foundations of many new ideas, methodologies, initiatives, approaches and tools. Generally, CE concentrates on enterprise collaboration and its many different elements; from integrating people and processes to very specific complete multi/inter/trans-disciplinary solutions, taking the user into account. Current research on CE is driven by many factors like increased customer demands, globalization, (international) collaboration and environmental strategies. The successful application of CE in the past opens also the perspective for future applications like overcoming natural catastrophes, sustainable mobility concepts with electrical vehicles, and intensive, integrated, data processing, with an increasing importance of Transdisciplinarity. User and application environments are more and more included into design and development to customize new products and implement solutions that are really needed and wanted. Research and development are then performed by people from social sciences and technical science. Social science methodologies are needed as well as the people understanding and using these methodologies to acquire the necessary knowledge about users and context and to better implement solutions in their context. Engineering needs these approaches in collaboration with other disciplines to be more successful with their innovation efforts.

Transdisciplinarity is characterising modern research areas, in which natural sciences are integrated with social sciences, requiring mixed methodologies for achieving the collaborative work. It is expected to be a significant basis for future evolution, especially in all Engineering areas.

The 27th International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE2020)

Transdisciplinary Engineering

Transdisciplinary Engineering is a methodological approach of engineering processes. In Concurrent Engineering the emphasis has been on engineering with the parallel execution of upstream and downstream processes, including involvement of end users and user communities. Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE), on the other hand, is a methodological approach, explicitly incorporating social sciences to gather information and to guide implementation of engineering solutions in practice. Examples of relevant methodologies from social sciences are case studies, surveys and action research. Openness between disciplines and the willingness to collaborate is a prerequisite to make TE a success. TE relates and merges natural sciences, applied sciences, social sciences and humanities to achieve a higher level of comprehension and awareness of the context where industrial products, processes, systems or services are experienced by users. Any engineering achievement should be embedded in an encompassing business model or business case to understand its value and validity.

New directions, like Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Internet of Things (IoT), human-centered design, etc. are part of TE, when their design and development are performed by people from both social science disciplines and technical disciplines and using the various related methodologies to achieve acceptable solutions.

TE2020

The 27th International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE2020)

The TE2020  conference is organized in cooperation with the International Society for Transdisciplinary Engineering (ISTE). The conference will take place in Warsaw,  at Warsaw University of Technology, from July 6 to 10, 2020. Warsaw, the capital of Poland is also the national administrative, economic, cultural and scientific centre of the country. There is a book about Poland: “About Polska.

The conference will link researchers and practitioners from industry and academia specialising in design and engineering disciplines as well as social science disciplines from around the world. On July 6, a set of pre-conference interactive workshops will bring together students, researchers, professors and experts discussing crucial topics of Transdisciplinary Engineering. After the conference, on July 10technical tour and industrial visit will enable conference delegates to know more about local initiatives, joint research between industry and University, and highly promising industrial innovations.
